Seat cover plans
 

I know this is a long shot question, but I'll try anyway...

Does anyone have any plans or dimensions like if you wanted to make your own seat covers? I searched the board and on google but found nothing. I could do it by myself, but it seems much easier to find plans, not to mention it's cold outside ( in Alabama - 40 is cold). I have a strange obsession with corduroy and found a place that has a perfect shade of it for the interior of my car. Yeah- it sounds strange but I think it'll turn out nice and comfy when I'm done.

Man - With all the testosterone flying around this board, I'm probably going to get flamed for wanting to sew my own seat covers.

I remember reading a post waaaay back about a guy who made his own seat covers.

He basically made new seats - NOT slip-on covers, but replicas of the existing fabric.

He took the stock seat covers off (according to leather seat companies, this is NOT hard to do on the Pro), and carefully cut the pieces apart at the seams. Then he used the pieces as templates for new material - cut 'em out, sewed the whole thing together, and it looked great.

I'm not sure this was on a Pro - but the procedure should be the same. Go for it!

i haven't made any seat covers for mine but i was thinking about getting some done. i know katskin makes some leather ones but it runs about 650$ for the kit.

I've seen that too up here. Man that was soooo long ago. Whatever he did, his sits were looking good.

hihoslva - thanks. I'll take the passenger seat out sometime and see what I can do.

Courderoy? When you get in and out of your car you can make that cool ZIP-ZOP sound. The static electricity generated in the winter might be deadly though. Post your progress. Who knows you may be able to sell covers to everyone.

Hell, I am having a hard enough time trying to find the Denim seat covers in the color I want. Unfortunately, NO company made Black seat covers for the 2002 Protegé DX. If anybody has any information on this where it won't cost me an arm and a leg...please HELLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!! My car has a tan interior, but believe it or not...Black sets if off like you wouldn't believe!!!

Talking about static electricity, you should also make sure you discharge yourself before filling up your tank... unless you want to be another statistic on all the static electricity related fires at the pump.
