scratched!

the door of my car got a hairline scratched, and there is a white coating exposed, so does anyone here knows what chemical compound to use to remove the scratch?

jtphl August-27th-2002 12:09 PM

so, do we still have a better alternative other than to have it painted? can a rubbing compound do the job? or other compounds there?"

It is really dependent on how deep the scratch is on your door. I would suggest posting pics so that we can see what happened and make suggestions.:D

I have tried using rubbing compound, but nothing happens, the scratch is still visible, I think the color of my car has already been trimmed off by the scratch, and a touch up paint will be the only remedy, but doing so might just ruin the car's paint since its just a touch up and not painted by spray

How old is your mazda? How long has the scratch been on your vehicle? Have you tried:

Mothers:
CALIFORNIA GOLDŽ SCRATCH REMOVER

or

Meguiers

I think it is called Scratch X

my car is only 6 months old, in fact I think the color layer of my car has been trimmed off, and I think only a touch up can do the task well, but doing a touch up might just put my car on an uglier situation since the scratch is long, and I'll be applying touch up this might just ruin the car, since the touch up paint will be very visible. so can you recommend any technique to do ? so we can make it that the scratch never happened?

heh, guys, you know what works wonders?
crayola.. LOL. .seriously, no joke..

buy a pack of crayola's.. colour match as best you can with your paint, then colour over the crack so that it's filled in with the wax, then buff off any extra wax and VOILA!!! shiny, smooth, and practically nnoticeable!!! this works wonders depending on how wide the scratch is, obviously the skinnier the LESS noticeable.

my hood had lots of little chips in in and that ended up with carnauba wax only to make them more noticeable, used a crayon over the front portion of the hood and buffed and buffed off all excess and you can ONLY notice when looking up realllly close :D
sorry for the redundancy. heh
