Reverse Indiglo's installed!!!

Thanks to Protege King for telling me about these. They are much better than the standard indiglo's. The tach needle for me was very hard to slide in, but I eventually got it. Here's some pics:

Yeah, they are really great. Something I dislike about them is that the low fuel light, battery light, and door ajar light are all covered up now. There are no cutouts for them like my old gauges. Oh well...

hey negatize, did you use the old indiglo assembly to install the new ones or did you ahve to do new lighting. lemme know.
thanks arul.
i think i might jsut wait til they come out with ones with the cutouts. who knows....

For now, I'm using the old harness and converter. It powers the gauges but I can't change the colors. I'm going to put in the new switch and converter soon, I just just too lazy and was running out of time when I got these gauges.

Would you be able to cut a hole for the fuel light and such? How hard was it to install? I don't see any slits cut, and I am curious how you got them on without breaking needles.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for my blue MP3. Similar to the VW guages.

I'm sure you could cut holes for the various lights, all you'd need is a Dremel or something. It won't affect the lighting in the faces as long as you don't totally block off the flat wires running though the face, if you know what I mean.

The faces slip on far easier than the old indiglo's I had. They actually made the holes big enough for the needles to fit through.

sweet!!!:D :D :D

The blue deck is the only thing that makes mine look different from yours. I have two blue neons tubes under the dash and glove compartment. Very Nice!

Hey Negatize,

When you redo your wiring know this: the green-black wire is the wire that feeds power to the gauges when you turn them on at night. They rely on that little stick on the left side of the steering wheel. I read your howto and thats not how you plugged your other set so I thought you might like to know.

Here are mine, they are Protege King's old set.:)

so......SedanMan

what do you think of them?

SedanMan January-16th-2003 09:55 PM

Sent you a PM, which basically states that I think they look great. I just cut some tiny slits into gauges to get them to fit. I know you had previously enlarged the holes but I was paranoid about not breaking the needles.

It turned out great! IMHO

NegatiZE January-17th-2003 03:12 PM

SedanMan: thanks for the tip. Next time I'm going to wire them up that way, because reaching down and switching two switches off really gets tiring after a while.

ProtegeKing: how'd you get off your old gauges so easily? I cut my old ones off my cluster...didn't feel like taking the risk to break my needles squeezing it past the needle.

not easily, but shifted one side over as much as possible and to get as much space as possible and slide one side off and then the same for the other. It can be done without creasing the faces. Maybe because I went through 3 clusters I'm now a master at it. FUCK APC!!!

ZackyFarms16 January-18th-2003 01:35 AM

i dont know how it is for yours but for the p5s at least, wouldnt only the gas warning light be covered? im talkin about the 02 p5. I really dont know how it is on the 02.5 or like any other mazda so dont flame me if its stupid, haha.

You were saying these guages cover the door ajar light n what not, but if im not mistaken, on the 02 p5, wouldnt only the gas warning light be covered?

blupro5 January-18th-2003 02:33 AM
