Replacing the Springs
 

Hey,

I am wondering whether I should put some 18" rims on my protege5 or lower it with some new springs. I want to fill in the gap between the wheel and the fender. So, I'm wondering, how much trouble have you guys had with the alignment after you put the new springs on. I know I put eibach springs on a dodge intrepid, which lowered it about 1.5 - 2". and I had to keep getting my car aligned or else the tires would get bald on the inside. Also, I have a friend who put a set of coilovers on his honda civic and also got the camber kit, and he still had the same problem as me.

I have 18 and springs.....
 

Tires were balding bad so I got camber plates. 18s will go back on in about a month when weather starts warming up so I can't answer if a camber kit will solve the problem. maybe someone else can. Front 1.8 Rear 1.5

I thought if you had 18s on a protege you couldnt lower it?

That green Pro from FL has got to be nearly undriveable.

I refuse to believe that those tires don't rub and grind around every turn and on every bump in the road.

Looks awesome - but it can't be very functional.

you can fit 19's on a p5. you have to watch coilovers between GC and Skunks though. top plates hit the strut differently. on a normal 17x7 wheel running a 40 series you will run if dropped 1.5, you can roll your back fenders for 50 bucks at a autobody place, easy fix. If you run coilovers you wont run, springs you will because it gives and they are soft, but why would you want 18's on your car? just slowing you down, less acceleration and more money... and weight.... 17's dropped 2 in look killer. just my 2 cents, i run both springs and coil overs... just dont get camber plates... they ride rough.. never again:D

it may be a 2nd gen but its a lowered protege with 18"s, the ride isnt too harsh, i had to roll the back fenders, but that wasnt to much work. Dont mind the primer on the QP, PO got a bullet hole in it somehow so im fixin it up in auto body class at school
