yes you can.....but what you want to be careful about is....if you run the power from a source that doesn't go DEAD when the key is turned off.....and you FORGET to turn your amp off....you could find yourself in trouble......

and of course if you used a power source that goes off when you turn the key off....you don't have to worry about the switch anywah.

ahh, ok maybe i can figure out to switch of the amp on engine shutdown but have a switch to turn it on anyways. Cause i dont really want it to be on all the time. :)

Why the hell would you need to do this?
Do you only have a sub amp?
HOw can one respect themselves after listening to music without a sub or 4?:D

just run the switch off the power wire to the amps.
Also you can pick up a factory fog light switch for $30 and use that. I did this with my neons.

check some of the older threads, there are some nice recipies for using a current sensing relay to turn on and off a sub amp.

I still like the 3 preout head unit the best here. Seperate volume adjust for the sub and you can kill it all together.

yeah my kenwood has a whole ass load of non fading options, but i want to access my lighter for the remote, i'm just not sure how to remove my center console to get at it

hmmm guess i dont have to worry about a switch for my remote. with my clarion i can just turn it off at my HU. and it will stay off until i tell it to come back one. just get EQ then ADJ then enter then arrow down to turn off.
