Relay Fuse?
I've tapped the pink/black wire from the radio wire harness and I'm about to hook it up to a relay that will switch 4 accessories (2 amps, crossover and eq) that will total less than 4 amps load on the relay. My question is: do i need to fuse the relay wires? In the future, I will be using the relay to power a cooling fan and some neon whis will require a fuse, but for now is it necessary? I asked a reputable local installer ane he was like "Are you kidding? No way!" But others have said "Always"
What's your opinion? I am doing the install as we speak...um... type :D ~ 4 rubBeR |
I used a relay only for remote wires going to the amps and the crossover. In that instance, I didn't need an inline fuse. If the neon requires or recommends an inline fuse, then I would definitely recommend doing so. You can get them fairly cheap at radio shack. That is where I got one for my Audio Control Overdrive, which ended up being defective. As far as remote wires to EQ, amps, and crossover, I don't see a need in doing so. I wire as thin as a remote wire can only deliver so much current. As long as your main power wires to each of the above have inline fuses, then you are set!
