reinstalling system

decided to put the system back in until somone buys it...i know what it looked like set up, and i tried to do it myself, but the power was not getting to the sub...the amp power light is on, so i know that works, but the sub is just not working

Ok first power wire goes to the amp not sub. The big power wire goes to the power terminal. The wire attached to the chassis of the car is ground and the little one from the readio is remote.
The amp should have th + speaker wire and the negative speaker wire going to the sub.

If you don't hear anything. Power off the system and check the amps onboard fuse, if it has one, and make sure its not blown also insure that amps speaker wires are hooked up correctly to the sub and not shorting out to each other.

I hope he didnt connect the power wire to the sub terminals.

What would happen anyways. SPARKS!?

NO but the sub will fire out like a bastard., probably nuke.

JRizzle January-22nd-2003 06:51 PM

no no, i understand all the wires except the ones going to the sub...theres a row of 4 terminals that are copper and 4 that are silver...

although you may be right about the fuse, ill check that out

A row of 4! WTF!

Hoe many subs do you have?
Are they DVCs?
What are the amp/amps?

JRizzle January-22nd-2003 08:35 PM

judging by your reaction, im gonna assume i said that wrong..its like....4 places where you can put the sub wire....4 copper on top, 4 silver on bottom....im assuming this will help? oh and what would a blown fuse look like

I need you to answer my other questions to be able to help you accurately.

JRizzle January-22nd-2003 08:41 PM

allllright
i have one sub, i have no idea if its DVC, and the amp is a pioneer, 100 watts

1st MP3 in NH January-22nd-2003 08:54 PM

you mentioned 4 sets of terminals in 2 rows, where are they?
DVC is dual vioce coil. It mena the sub has 2 sets of terminals not just 1 pair.

Basicly with one sub you should just have 1 wire from the amp + to the sub + and one from the amp - to the subs -.

JRizzle January-22nd-2003 09:47 PM

yeah, its not dual then, i am gona guess my fuse is blown...but i cant tell. how do i know

just look at it and see if the internal filiment is broken. If the fuse is blown then you have the speaker wires in contact with each other or ground.

Didn't he say that the amp power light is on? I'm not an expert, but I guess that if the light is on, the fuse seems okay to me. :)

Not really. The fuse under the hood inline with the power wire is what protects the amp. The fuse on an amp is for the speaker wires most of the time. SO it can blow and the amp will still turn on but not putout any signal.

Check the ground maybe, and make sure its connected to the back of the radio correctly too.
