Rear Dash Panel Rattling!!!
 

I have the sedan and just recently got my system installed but my rear deck (dash) is rattling like mad!! What should I do to stop it??? DYNAMAT??

Sound deadener like dynamat does help, but it does not stop rattles completely. Your best bet is to track down the pieces of plastic that are rattling against other things and use anything you can to stop it. Foam, socks, anything. I personally used foam weather stripping since it had an adhesive side and I could cut it up into small pieces.

A couple tips that I can give about your deck is 1. Take out your rear speakers completely, and Here's why. 2. My biggest rattle contender on the rear deck was my rear brake light. After putting some foam (I used the thin, big strips that you wrap pipes in) underneath the plastic casing, it stopped a lot of the noise.

Having no rear speakers is a good idea because A: It doesn't pressurize your trunk as much, and therefore make your deck rattle (unless you have a hatchback) and having it exist in the same airspace as your cabin means your bass will be louder and cleaner since it doesn't have to force it's way through your seats. B: The air pressure doesn't press against the rear speakers and cause them to buzz, since they are trying to use that same air. C: Rear speakers mess up your front sound imaging, causes sound wave cancellations and distortions, and can bring your sound more towards the floor.

Edit: Oh, and I do highly recommend sound deadner too. It does help a lot with sound. But there are much better and CHEAPER alternatives than Dynamat (most of the money you spend on it goes to the name brand, not the product). I really recommend RAAMat. Is exactly like Dynamat Extreme (the best Dynamat) but at 1/5 the price.

Ahhh, another victim of the 3rd brake light. I have that problem too, but I just haven't had time go to to Home Depot and pick up the weather stripping. From what I heard, it does improve it a lot. Also, what everyone says about Dynamat is true. I have it in my car and it does the same as the other brands, just more money. I happened to get an awesome deall on it, but if you have the chance go for something cheaper. Raamat and B-Quiet are 2 great brands, I am sure people on here can hook you up with the dealers of them. Anyways, good luck with all that.

yea im having the same problem. . . . .thing is where can i get this vibration dampening stuff cheaper and where exactly do i place it underneath the rear deck lid?

so when the spoiler rattles like a mofo what do you do for that?

my 94 lx has the most monsterous rattle you could ever imagine, the plastic paneling in the trunk is torn out, i used a liscence plate kit from dynamat, and i'm about to install some b-quiet, but i layed under my car and let the subs just hit and hit and hit, and all i could find out is that EVERYTHING on my car rattles. the rear bumper has a styrophoam insert. that causes rattle, the rear bumper rattles itself, my front dash rattles... like the whole freakin thing, of course the 3rd brake rattles, which i'm about to fix, my dome light has a rattle, my rear quarter panels seem to have a rattle, my rear seat latches rattle (shut or closed i might add), and with the displacement that 2 10 inch rockfords have, the trunk has a good 1/4 to 1/2 inch raise when the subs are even at HALF volume. i know 1 or 2 layers of b-quiet will help, but what about the other trouble areas, i mean, for me financially, firewall dynamatting is not an option, headliner dynamat is not an option, what do you guys recommend?

could someone tell me if 200cdn is good for a dynamat trunk kit?

I bought a 20 dollar heat gun from Home Depot and set it to 750 degrees. It works perfect for applying RAAMat in colder weather, and I could even use my bare hands to push it down after the heat gun passed over it.

thanks for the info dude(s), i don't think i'm gonna do it till the summer anyways since i don't have a garage to work in cuz i live in an apartment and it was a brisk -35c today...in the summer its like a constant 100f so i think that should work out just fine.
