When you shave it, I assume it will be repaired at a body shop? Or are you just going to cap it off? When first got my old car, the body shop quoted me over a grand (can't remember exact) to fix it properly. Just didn't seem worth it for something not speed related.

Shave it? Shave what? I'm confused.

It looks like you can screw it right off, but I'm sure there would be exposed holes where the antenna was. God is it ugly though.

$1000.00
are they going to wine you and dine you first?

I am not sure where the mount is for your antenae but none the less it should only need minor work to change the location of the it.
Take it to a stereo shop to install the antennae and then to the body shop to fix the hole.

Now that I think about it you will need to have the entire headliner removed before any welding can be done on the roof and this would explain the million dollar swap.
I would recommend that you could also use fiberglass in the hole and finsihed it with filler if that is the case. that is probably how the body shop would fix it anyway.

First off, jackass, I was looking into having it welded, not fiberglass filled. Unlike most, I will not do anything half-assed. It was a brand new red car that would have been near impossible to blend without painting half the car. Maaco just isn't good enough for me, which is why I never did it!

Obviously, he aint use to us. Oh and posting your # is not so very smart, be prepared to be hound by many. Ha Ha! JK.

On topic, yeah I don't like the antenna as well. I don't raise it til the end just enough to get good reception. I see a lot of antennas by the side either hanging low or bent. Really ugly. Charles, I can't get a good reception w/out pulling the antenna out, HFS is choppy and DC101 as well.

yeah, I shaved my antenna because of the rinky dink look it gives. the car looks more luxury and less Geo Metro. The body shop did it because I wanted it done right. I replaced it with an inside antenna that hooks up to the corner of the windshield. Very discrete but pretty shitty reception to put it mildly, but it doesn't bother me because I'm always listening to CDs. If you like radio, especially FM stations, research your options.

Whoa now I wanna see that! Ha Ha!

Where'd you get that logos for your trunk? Custom made?

Witchdoktor September-4th-2002 10:09 PM

Logos were made out of wood. Pattern were made by an art shop with a computer. Installer did a kick ass job cutting and recarpeting. Wer'e getting off topic, this thread is about shaving antennas, not about shaved snatches.

Very nice! I like it a lot, it looks so much cleaner without the radio antenna. The bracked assembly on the antenna is what's really ugly. How much did it cost you at the body shop? I don't listen to the radio at all really, so reception isn't much of a concern.

Witchdoktor September-5th-2002 07:01 PM

Sorry Foxxy, 18". I have pics but how do you post them in the reply. The antenna was like $20 and the body shop bill was a combination of other work. Shaved emblems and front grill. Plus I have a good relationship with the body shop so my best estimate would be about $150 for the antenna by itself.
