Question regard the leather seat..
I bought my PR5 as first Gen, as I heard that 2nd Gen have option of leather seat. Is there any way I could install the leather seat w/o replacing the whole seat?
Thanks |
I'm thinking your in Canada, right?
Cause fist gen P5s where offered in leather but only state side. you can take your car to a upolstery shop and get them to do the leather, or there are a few seatcover makers that do make aftermarket leather seat covers. sory i dont have a link or know the name, but I've seen people on this forum that have them. |
www.leatherseats.com - they sell Katzkin leather - I have seen the kit installed in a P5 and I can tell you they are top notch quality and fit. These were on a dealer P5 before the leather option was factory added in the US.
The kit costs about $700, and includes the four seats, plus leather inserts to replace the black pool-table felt ;) in the door panels. They also told me it is an absolutely great DIY project - comes with full instructions, and they have the P5 as one of the cars they believe a non-pro can easily install - if it was really hard, they'd direct you to an install center. Tons of color options, too, and great customer service. If I ever decide to make the leather upgrade, I'll go Katskin all the way. ~HH |
My P5 has leather seats and it was an option from the dealer. Okay he farmed it out to one of his suppliers but it is leather. In fact I have been to the shop that did it for some touchup owrk and they do leather for many of the delaers, Toyota, Nissan etc.
I also asked for my original covers back (since I paid for them too) and I saw that the OEM ones are simple snap fit covers as were the leather ones. I think my leather seats are called Autoskins so maybe this is the Canadian vesion of Katskins . |
