Protege 5 Stock Shifter extension...
Ok, the situation is...I shortened the stock shifter in my Pro5 by removing the extension. I am selling the car, and, if possible, I would like to take my Momo shift knob with me. Is there any way to put the extension back on. Some people have mentioned going to Canadian Tire to get some kind of super metal adhesive...problem is, the extension used to have some kind of foam or fill or something in there for vibration, I'm sure. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

to put the extension back on like it was when you got the car....your out of luck....
but yes you COULD use something like Belzonia Supermetal after cleaning it very well.....however....to do this right it would probably be best to remove the shifter from the car.... OR like mentioned above get another cheap universal knob and put it on.... OR get a threading die and thread the shaft that you now have exposed to 10 mm X 1.25 thread pitch and then you can just screw the stock knob back on. those are about your only choices. |
