Plastic Cover Paint

Im thinking of painting the engine's plastic cover of my mazda any toughts?
like what brand and kind of paind should I use cause due the hight temp im guessing ill need a special kind of paint, my car is black, and ill like to paint it "red candy apple" color

I would try duplicolor plastic/vinyl paint. They have some pretty good colors. It's about $7/can but I'd invest in a can or two of clear lacquer as well to help keep the color clean.

nice...

Thanks for the tip, cause I own an air compressor and have a paint gun, and i was looking for a "bucket" but after lot of research I came to the conclution that the can its a quieter and easier solution for painting a "small" piece like the engine's cover I think imgonna go with

-2 coats of Dupli-Color® Adhesion Promoter.
-3 coats of Dupli-Color® DH 1608 High Heat Red or chrysler industrail red... depends on the actual color
-3 coats of Dupli-Color® DE 1636 Clear

ill post the pictures when its ready

the dh1608 is an engina enamel. I don't know how I feel about it. I think you should try sticking with the plastic/vinyl paint. It's made specifically to stick to plastic (and the adhesion promoter).

The last thing you want to do is try to strip that all back down and re-do it if it doesn't hold well. Stripping plastic is HARD....chemicals melt it and wire brush gouge it.

I suck

hehehe does anyone has a spare baterry "wind port" ???
I didnt find adesion promoter nowhere i when to 2 autozones and a Wal-mart and ended buying a platic primer at homedepot... has some lawn chairs in the can hehehe... well it worked, no chipping no cracks, no nothing.
Used the primer (white) a black ceramic enamel and a red-orange engine enamel both from Duplicolor (Y) and finally BIG MISTAKE a clear cover... now the piece looks like a cheap chinesse toy... damn... fortunately my techinique was flawless and im confident that if i find some metallic paint (with little metal pieces on it) ill be able to paint over all those coats and fix the damn thing before start sandng :D and no no pictures :P

Don't really need high heat paint for the engine cover. My valve cover is painted with regular base clear and has not burned
