Pinstripe on Pro5 - (Image)

I got up early to wash my car before the sun started heating it up, and while washing it I thought I should make a post about a unique feature of my car...

My red Protege5 has a pinstripe on it. It was applied by the dealer as soon as they received the car. When I first saw the car I immediately recognized the pinstripe. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I decided I did like it. I think it adds some definition to the car.

There's another red Pro5 I see on the way home from work from time to time and I think it looks kinda "blank" now that I'm used to seeing my pinstripe.

Thought you all may wish to see this exterior modification:

I can take additional pictures if someone would like to see different angles.

Hi Aaron

Hey that looks good. I was thinking of doing the same thing on my yellow P5 but people have said I should not. I think it look nice. Plus doesn't putting stripes on your car make it go faster? :)

damn, i like it..... just that little strip of black adds a nice definition to the car

I've heard that "Racing" decals add like 50hp or so...:D

dammit! I like to too.....wish my dealer offered that when I bought mine..

Holy crap, I just found out how much to get something like that put on my P5. $65 CDN. I don't think so. I have done this on vehicles before so I'll do it this weekend and see what it looks like.

The big thing you have to watch out for is the installer trimming the stripe on the vehicle. I've removed striping from cars before and saw a bunch of fine cut lines where the guy took an xacto blade to clean up the stripe .

I saw a Black P5 last week with a silver pinstripe similar to yours...Yeah, it's a sweet little addition. Nothing cheesy, just personalized...That was good luck that your dealer had it sitting there waiting for ya!

I've had charcoal stripes on my silver P5 for months now - since before the winter (you can see snow falling in my pics ;)). Online comments have been mixed - some like it, some don't. I like it, and as we all know that's all that matters. I did them myself, and really personalized it with the dots at the back of the stripe:

Unlike the stripes on Thomasbien's red Pro - I followed just above the body crease - Thomasbien's stripe is higher up - looks nice, man! I'm even considering re-applying mine higher like yours - to avoid the door handles and gas door. But I like mine anyway. We'll see.....

Hmm, I really like the back end of your stripes. I was thinking of doing something similar but making it as diagonal bars. As for the stripe being higher, I would think this would be harder as you have to make sure you are parallel to the body line or it would look like crap. I have striped cars before and all it takes is a steady hand and some patience. I am putting some black on my yellow. I thought of red but thought it was too gaudy,

Small dots - hole punch.

Large dot - used a metal pen casing and a hammer on a wood cutting board to.

The stripes I used (can't remember the brand) came with a small piece of material as extra - not a stripe, but like a blank sticker about 2"x3" the same color as the stripes - that's what I cut the dots from.

I think putting stripes anywhere is fairly easy - just don't tack-as-you-go - use long sections, tacking only every few feet - enough to hold it while you pull out the next long section. That's the best way to get nice straight lines. I just followed the body crease because it was the easiest, and it accentuates the crease.

I must have got the same thing because my set also has a piece of extra material, probably for doing that very thing. I'll probably use it to do my diagonal bars at the back.
