ohh ya....what paint did you use for them???

Wingman21 July-24th-2002 06:54 AM

I used MotoMaster engine paints that I found at Canadian Tire (I'm from Canada  ) ! I did a primer with an aluminium paint ( 47-7526-8 ALUMINIUM) and finished them with a chrome coat, also from MotoMaster ( 47-1031-0 UNIVERSAL CHROME ).

cool

thats awesome! :bigthumb:

i got a black 88 323 gtx....should i paint the calipers a dull silver or just paint them black....i say dull silver because i still have the original factory rims that come with the car, so i don't want to make the calipers stand out, and because the paint is black....or is it just better to paint them black and make them look kind of invisible....

Was it a spray on, or brush-on? If it was a spray-on, did you take the calipers off, or did you mask everything?

It was spray-on. What I did is take the caliper off, put a garbage bag around the disc brake and put the caliper back on. That way, the disc brake is completly protected ... Then I just masked some of the surrounding pieces ! I think it does a better job than brushing ... personally !

By the way, I did my rear ones yesterday... I tried to post some pics of the whole car ! I also did the the center of the disc brake. Wasn't so hard and it looks kinda nice :D !

Looks great!! I just finshed painting my calipers yesterday and I am very hapy how they came out. I sprayed mine and took off and masked everything. The whole job took me a couple days to do since I did not do all four at the same time. Instead I did one side of the car at a time since I figured you can really only see one side at a time. I even sprayed my rear dust shield and that sure makes it look different.

You know we really need to have a whole section on painting calipers so that we can see what everyone else has done and get ideas. Just a thought.

Man, you guys sound like you put way too much effort into painting your calipers. I just did mine when I was rotating my tires. Quick clean, couple little pieces of cardboard to catch overspray and three coats of red engine enamel.

And they look sweet.

Yeah I know, but I'm like that. That's just me. By the way, any pics of your painted calipers?
