painting interior
 

I would like to know if anyone is thinking about painting their interiors with paint. I would like to do my but i don't know what color should i paint it with or which parts should i paint. any suggestions or pics.

I'll have pics of mine as soon as I get off my lazy ass and do it.

Maybe the weekend after this coming one - too busy this weekend.

I'll post pix no matter when it gets done.

I painted anything that was the "gun metal" color with "cherry red" Krylon paint that I picked up at Canadian Tire for $6, I think. I also painted the gauge cluster surround.

It worked great! Just be sure to clean everything real well and prime them too. I used a white Krylon primer. The trick to painting this stuff is to do several light coats. If you go too heavy you have all kinds of problems. Also be sure to put on a good coating of regular auto wax before you reinstall the pieces.

This has been one of the most gratifying mods I have done.

Looks pretty good. How did you paint the steering wheel cover? Is it new leather cover? Also, can you get some close-up shots of the paint job? Thanks :)

The red looks good - but IMO, I'd rather use a product that is formulated to hold up on automotive exteriors.

The Krylon looks really good now - I just wonder how well it will hold up to UV rays and large temperature swings over time (remember - your car bakes in the sun, then you get in and pump the A/C - could go from 120 to 65 degrees in only a few minutes - not to mention the freezing cold on winter).

And for the same price, I think the SEM paint might hold up better - plus, it comes in true automotive-look finishes. The silver I bought has almost the exact same metallic flake as the "champagne" trim does now - it'll almost match the silver color of the car itself.

Just opinion about the product to use- but dude - I do think your interior looks cool. Good job!

My painter and I am painting mine with PPG Concept. Its a true, exterior automotive paint. I will mix the color at work and spray it in our shop (paint booth) If anyone wants to send me the panels we can do everything right for $200. This would be for paint (as described by hihoslva, is made to take abuse.) and labor. To do it right there is about $100 worth of paint needed. That is at "cost" through my shop. Otherwise it would be more like about $200 just for the paint. I am painting everything that is silver in the interior. Paint such as plastikote or krylon will not hold up to abuse at all. The cup holders will especially scratch easily with paint such as those.

im preping mine for anodized red and since i work in a metal shop we have a pant booth and the painter is going to Matte Clear coat them ill send picts hen done. Im also doing that black center hood thing..
