Paint Job $$$

What's up ?

I was just wondering how much an ELECTRON BLUE PEARL PAINT JOB would cost ? it is somewhat like the Si Blue...
I have heard prices from $ 500 to $ 5000 and I was thinking that you guys might know.....

The other thing ............how much do you think it'll be to colormatch an Evolution III bodykit to the stock first gen protege color ?
the color of the car is dark blue ....

Thanks,

No one's going to be able to give you a price that means anything unless they've looked at your car and are going to paint it for you. Check this website. http://www.bodywerksauto.com/TheSite.html It's probably the best place to get your car painted, or kits installed, in the Chicago area.

I have heard of Body Werks.......

They do the work on the Driver's Image cars....
I have been to the website also, but unfortunately there were no
prices

The good thing is that I live like five minutes away from the shop and it will be really convenient for me once I get to do it...

How does that expression go? If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

But seriously, when it comes to paint, you get what you pay for. A $300-500, Maaco job may be worth it to some, but not for me. If you are considering a color different than the original paint, there's going to be a bit more prep work. If you do some of the prep work, you'd be able to cut costs a bit.

The paint you use is also a factor. The color you've chosen will cost a bit more than a solid.

A quality full paint job would easily fall in the $3000-5000 range.

I've seens hoods go for about $300. Same for front fachias. So $500-$1000 would be a fair estimate for a body kit (front and rear fachia and running boards).

I haven't been in the market for a few years, but I don't think pricing has changed too much. Best thing to do is take it to a few shops and get quotes from them.

Prepare the car hey? GNO you mean dump paint thinner on the car?

Please tell me you forgot the smiley faces and that was a joke.

Prep for same color would consist of some sanding, trim removal, masking. Change colors then details like door jams, underside of trunk and hood must also be addressed, which would mean more stripping.

if you're getting a new color, I'd make sure to get the engine bay done. It won't look like a great job if you have a nice paint job on the outside and some other stock color under the hood. However, if your stock color is black, it's won't look so bad. Be prepared to spend over $1000 depending on the cost of the paint.

hey isnt that Chameleon paint just another name for the illusion paint? And if so isnt that illegal in the US, or at least in certian states? I was talking with a cop who didnt agree with my style of driving:rolleyes:and we got into a discussion of the illusion paint, he said that he hadnt really heard of it but that " you can bet that it's illegal in VA." Besides i heard that that damn paint job is like Major money, somewhere in the area of $6,000 and up depending on the application. If any of you guys can get some more information on this subject that would be friggin awsome, thx in advance, and any info on this subject would be well a reciated!
