in a P5, sub mobility.
i'm thinking about getting a sub added to my car. just a little 10" in a box in the hatch.
anyway, just curious if anyone's come up with a slick way of securing the box, yet still have relative ease to remove it temporarily if you need the full cargo space. all i can think of is L-brackets. thanks. |
Bungee cord if you don't mind the 'bringing it home from Revy' look :)

Originally posted by blue LEDz just put the coarse side on the box, and you might not need to put any on the carpet. i've used velcro for amps mainly, but also a few sub boxes. just nothing to big and tall;) the box looks to be about 12"x12"x10". the sub would be an alpine SWE-1041. i know i know. small potatoes but it's all i need. hell, i don't even need a sub but this deal popped up with a little T130 and i can't resist. anyway, thanks for the suggestions. velcro would be a swell solution. i'll just have too see once i get a good look at the box etc. |
I use industrial stregth velcro holds nicely.

Put bolts up through the floor secured with a jam nut then use angle brackets to fasten the box tothe bolts.

in the P-5 and wanting to keep removability....the velcro works like a champ....but for a LITTLE more secure box...the strap would work nicely....if you look at the back of your rear seats...there is a ring on each side to hook to.

One thing to watch out for with temporary installs is insurance. Knock on wood, hopefully nobody has to find out either way, but I know that the local insurance nazis will only cover stolen stereo equipment if it's bolted to the chassis. I had a friend who had a changer velcro'd to the back of his rear seat & they wouldn't replace it. Kinda makes sense though, make it too easy for a thief to steal it.

well they DO still have to break into the car...lol geeeez...
|
And if they do, you're really hooped... geezzzzz....
