P5 Owners - Faded glove box door?

Hey you P5 owners. Probably the 2002 sedan owners too. Those of you with the black interior, take a look at your glovebox door and see if it looks faded just above the handle. I had mine in for service and requested they look at it. The service writer indicated it was replaced but got in the car and the new one was faded also. I went onto the showroom floor and two other cars had a faded spot in the same place.

-Thanks

I don't think it's faded - I think that there is a "bulge" in that area, so it catches the light differently and only looks faded.

Maybe try to check it out from a few different angles, and with different lighting conditions, and see if you still think it's faded.

Yeah, it's cheap plastic. All the Pro's are like that. If it bothers you, get it painted with interior paint or put a sticker on it.

Ask the Bill Clinton "OWNED" guy, I think this he has had experience with interior painting.

I noticed that too... but not on the glove box door... my spots are on the passenger side airbag cover

hmm

yea i have that too i think
right above the handle to open it right?
it's not faded i think
stretched out because it is holding the parts of the handle that opens the glovebox
and that makes it look faded
it's extremly ugly
i think i'll just put a stick over it though ;)

thanks for the publicity dynamho and hihoslva. Paint the stuff man. you won't be happy with a sticker over it for long. They eventually peel off, especially if it gets hot in your area. You could go look at the other protege5s at your dealer and if they don't have the same exact "bulge" or fade then make them give you a new one. When you walk into the showroom with parts off your brand new car they start to sweat. They will fix it I'm sure. To get the glove box off open it, pull the sides in a little, that releases the top of the glove box off and then just pull it off its "hinge". The dealer doesn't want the customers that are buying new cars to see that you are unhappy or that your new car is falling apart especially when its the same model they are buying. I saw its worth putting some heat on the dealer. It can't hurt. Even its a minor problem. They would screw you in a minute, take advantage of them by all means.

yes i hate that part above the handle where its slightly lighter in shade than the parts around it, and no matter how much armor all/black magic i put on i can't get it to match. it couldn't of been that color from the begining could it? anyways is their anyway i could make it the same color? i don't think mazda sells paint of that color since the plastic is colored and not painted
