Opinions on my audio setup
 

I just got my P5 last week and am starting to look into a new system for it. I'm hoping to get some opinions on my choices so far. None of it is purchased yet, as I haven't looked at car audio in years and am not quite sure what would suit my needs/budget best. I'm going for sound quality and fullness, not necessarilly loudness. I've had those systems and want clarity and full clean sound this time. I would also like it to sound good playing all different types of music. (ex: Rock, Rap, Jazz, Pop, etc.)

Here's what I have come up with so far from what I know "used to" be good (and may still be).

Headunit: Alpine CDA-7897

Front Components: MB Quart PSD 216 Components

Rear fill: MB Quart PWD 160 Midrange Drivers

Subwoofer(s): Boston 10.5 LF Pro Series

Now the part I'm really not sure about - Amplifiers.

I was thinking Precision Power Amps. One question was can I get away with just one amp for the sub(s) and run the other speaker off the deck, or is that asking of trouble? If I should get 2 amps, what kind of power ratings would you suggest for the type of setup I'm looking at? Any oppinions on other amp brands that may be better for my application?

Well the Quarts are cool, that's all I will ever run in a car. I dunno though as for HU - Eclipse, amps - Phoenix Gold, subs - JL Audio. Those are the components that I have liked the best, and ran for the past 6 years.

sound all good to me, though im not a big alpine fan.... id say take a look at eclipse, clarion, or blaupunkt (blau is my fave here)... amps i think sweeden is right about, subs: jl is good.... but if you can id recommend checking out Treo.... ive heard nothing but good things there, and i love their line!

hey, looking good. honestly, what was good b4 is actually still good today. not a whole lot of dip in preformance in those companies. my hu choice would be a blau, but i'm a bit biased there. the ppi amps should do you well. the quarts are good and i especially like the boston subs. maybe you could go boston mids as well instead of mb quarts? it's up to you.

you're looking for sq, so i'd go two amps. ditch your rear fill (or run the stock off the deck) if you are not too concerned about your passengers. run your mids off a decent 2ch amp (maybe your ppi), and your sub(s) off a 500+ watt amp. two 10's or two 12's shoud give you awesome sq.

Your configuration is very good- as mentioned classics never die, they just evolve into newer models (and sometimes the company is bought out!)
Options to consider-

Headunits- Pioneer, Premier, Kenwood, Elipse, darkhorse- clarion proaudio

Speakers- JL Audio, Focal, stillwater designs dark horse- Dyn Audio

Subs- Not my Forte- and I really like Boston subs for the dollar, I understand the Infinity subs are good, and the JL subs are the rage. Dark Horse- Digital Designs

Amps- Xtant, JL Audio, Arc audio, Genesis (if you can find it), darkhorse- Helix

You seem willing to commit to decent mid- fi, and there is a LOT of good product out there in the catagory. Some of the stuff above is not so common, but good if you can get a deal on it.

-Alpine HU are top notch, I'm thinking about getting one myself, you should also check out Pioneer HUs specially their Premier products.
-For the subs, I've had a great experience with JL subs.
-As for the amps, you should, at least run the front stage with an amp. Check out Phoenix Gold, R Fostgate, JL.... if you're on a budget, Lanzar's amps are great considering how much they cost.
