Need MSP audio help
Hey guys, I've got a mazdaspeed amp/sub rack in my p5 however i'm not real tickled with the output of the stock 8". Does anyone have any experience replacing the 8" with another unit? I have had 10's before and liked those, but I know with the quality of 8" subs nowadays I should be able to upgrade speakers and get more sound. I'm most concerned with clearances and sub-size. also, I've not opened up the stock box so pointers on that would be appreciated. Thanks.

It was good while it lasted.

how is that helpful to my thread?
Actually if you had the numbers, the forum is back on the rise. |
Anyone know the size of the factory 8" msp sub so I can start comparing it to other subs??

IS that helpful? honestly this is kinda a ghost town. and that exact question's been over and over at the other site. |
got it, thanks.
p.s. This is FAR from a ghost time. If you filter out all of the B.S. on p5.com you get less actual content than this site!! |
Fight for where you mod.... *L* nah I used to realyl dig this site, just seems everyone moved. There IS lots of noise, but running searches over there etc is VERY informative. hell there's some guys doing amazing stuff and showing you how it's realyl not all taht horrid. Hell, I jsut made my first fiberglass subbox. molds perfectly right into the side of my hatch and takes up practically no space...
I'd really just consider ditching that stock box. Seems the route everyone who's tried upgrading just the sub has inevitably gone. You can do good, but not quite as good as you'd imagined. it is kinda limiting. |
meh, ditch the idea, swing an infinity basslink or a bazooka tube if you're wanting bass in a tight box.. eitherwise, just get a single 10 inch sub and mount it in a truck box.. tight, compact, sounds great, and reliable.

Has this become the ghetto forum??? if you wanna nice tucked-in install, and you've got the time/patience make yorself a Fiberglass box. I just did it, and prettymuch I have a hatchback again...
check http://www.e-kittan.com/fibre.html and http://web.njit.edu/~cas1383/proj/main/ Both of these are pretty straightforward how-to's And also my current thread keeping a running progress of my box. http://protege5.com/vbb225/showthrea...8&page=1&pp=15 This is my box as-of the moment. unfinished, but 100% functional. and nicely out of the way. NOt to mention situated in a way where my dumbass friends aren't gonna toss their snowboard boots up against it, etc.. |
