Need help with PS2 install

I am currently installing a PS2 into my P5. I have installed the inverter already. I have a problem with the picture and sound quality though. When using the PS2 through a normal house power point the picture and sound is perfect, but once I switch the PS2 over to the inverter lines start to appear on the screen and the sound gets slightly crackly. Therefore the problem is with the power supply and not the A/V connections.

Someone suggested to open the PS2 and connect a cable to the chassis of the PS2 and then ground it to the chassis of the car. He said that it fixed his problems. But someone else then came out and said not to do this because grounding a 240V(Australian power supply) appliance to the chassis of a car is not a good idea.

What does everyone think, any other ideas.

Thanks.

it's definately electrical interferance, does your power inverter have a regulator on it, cause your amps/volts (i always forget) are fluctuating in a car.

Dude! It is not 240V inside the unit! The car inverter takes the DC voltage of the car and creates a useable AC voltage for the input to the unit. Inside the unit is a transformer/rectifier to step it back down to ~ 12VDC... My point? The unit should be safe to ground to the chassis. In fact a electronics repair shop could probably put a 12VDC 'input' directly into the unit.

No facts here -= but i suggest you check deeper in to it.
