My setup..suggestions?
 

Alright this is a fun one for you guys =). I am currently running a 10 speaker system in my '02 LX and I am wanting to SERIOUSLY revamp my trunkload. I have 2 12" Excursion series audiobahns in my trunk powered by a 2 channel fosgate 401s amp.. not too much power. I want to get 2 10" flame Q or alum audiobahn series subs each powered by an audiobahn mono amp.. my question is what amp I should get and what suggestions on box types.. comments on ported and comments on bandpass? (I dont want sealed) the rest of my system is pioneer on the 6x9s on the rear deck and 6x8s in the front doors and infinity reference series 5 1/4" in the back door and 1" infinity reference tweets angle mounted in the front. Lemme know, thx.

hmm... soudns like you've got alot of stuff, just not sure what it's all accomplishing. What's your ultimate goat here? DO you just want to have alot of speakers? Are you going for loud, or sound quality?

My honest reccomendation is to toss just about everything and start all over. rear door speakers could stay, they're mostly out of the way, add sufficent rear-fill and keep your backseat drivers happy, just don't amp them. The 6x9's are throwing sound at the back of your head that you could do without, and their absence would make for a good way for bass to get into your car and not rattle your deck as much. The biggest and best thing you could ever do for yourself and your car's tunes is to get a good set of components up front, and amp them appropriately, then worry about everything else last. Asfor subs, Check out eD http://www.edesignaudio.com/ They are head and shoulders above audibahn for quality period, and not even thatmuch spendier. Sure they don't have cool flames and chrome all over them, but their sound is nothing short of incredible, and the prices are quite palateable. Even their K series are VERY nice subs.

And another note on the front speakers. They're verymuch a personal preferance kind of thing. Go and try to test out as many as you can, and when you go, take in a mix cd that covers the variety of music you listen to and enjoy the most to do it with. Try to keep decks and amps all set flat and just listne to the speakers themselves. I've personally fallen in love with Focal Polykev K2p's, but Also check out companies like Rainbow, Diamond, CDT, Boston, MB Quart, JL... Heck even sometimes the cheap ones'll kick in and suprise you, but the main thing is to listne to them and see if you cna tell the diference. The problem with having toomany different speakers in your car is that unless they're all designed to work together, the're likely jsut adding confusion. Stereo is ideally based on 2 speakers, and seperation and such is a good thing. first and foremost just try fading out your heavy rear-sound setup, give it an honest try for a week, and see if it doesn't sound decent. Perhaps turn the treble down and the midrange up a bit as well if you can.

1) with all of your speakers.. i think it just adds confusion to what you're doing.. 8 speakers will do the work of 10 :). just cut out your rear door speakers and sell em on ebay.
2) personally, i would recommend going to http://www.edesignaudio.com and picking up two of their K or O series 12's
3) i would go with a ported box.. couldn't give you specs though without doing much research, although edesigns may have a few box designs available if you email them or search their site
4) get a nice 4 channel amp (50x4 or maybe 60 or 70 x 4) for your surround speakers (granted you get rid of the rear door speakers
5) get a pair of CDT or Focal components in the front of your car.. running seperate tweeters with a set of 2 or 3 way speakers in the front.. with out a cross over never the less, does your system no justice
6) what kind of head unit are you running (model and make exactly?)
7) as far as subwoofer ampflier, if you pick up some of those elemental designs, i may be able to point out a few options for ya, though that 401s amp isn't doing anybody justice.
