Mounting an AMP need input

I went to a local stereo performance shop thinking about and upgrade in my stock system. I wanted an amp (4 channel at least 50 watts per) and 4 new high speakers. The problem is mounting the amp. I have one child and a new one on the way, and I need all my interior space. The shop wanted to mount the amp on the back on the rear seats but that would be getting in the way of cargo and a pain when founding down the seats. Has anyone out there found an unobtrusive place to mount an amp that doesn't take up interior room. The shop claimed there wasn't enough space under the seats to mount one. Also, I like the 6 disk head unit that I have so I don't want to change it..has anyone rally noticed a big enough diffence to warrant the expense from simply switch out the stock speakers without adding an amp. The shop didn't think it was really worth it.

Thanks

I have three little girls. I did upgrade my stock speakers (yesterday) and what a difference! I also installed my mono bass amp in the passenger rear corner. It doesn't get in the way and when my kids are not in the car I kick on the bass as well.

My amps are on the back of the rear seats. You have to give your wires length to move with the seat. I have all of my wires hidden under the carpet. Looks good. I thought about under the seat, but I has a child on the way, can't even fathom what will end up under there. So I just don't take the chance.

I just had an amp and sup installed a couple a days ago. They put the amp right on the back of the fold down seat. Looks nice and out of the way. The seat still folds down nice and everything.
Btw the amp is a Rockford Fosgate Punch 200s if your wondering about size. I was going to get another one (300s) to power the factory speakers (yeah Im upgrading in steps) but I opted for a new Alpine head unit instead.
