Meguiar's Finesse Sanding Block
 

I'm almost complete in fixing up my paint chip on my hood and was wondering where I can buy this Finesse Sanding Block to flatten out the area where I used the touch up paint... I live in Toronto and not sure who would carry such a product.

Are there any other types of sandpapers or blocks I could use if I cannot find it and where would I buy it? Thanks!

Get some very fine sand paper about 2500 grit, and wrap it around a thick, soft, sponge or foam block. It works the same. The one you buy just has the sandpaper glued to a sponge. Make sure that you soak the sandpaper before using it, and keep it wet, to prevent clogging.

I tried putting the touch up paint on it today and although it looks better than it did with just the chip there... it still doesn't look close enough to the rest of the hood... looks almost a little darker... I'm hoping that when I sand it down it'll look more like the rest of the hood...

Try using rubbing compound first. Only use it on the area that you're touching up. It will take a lot of elbow grease, but you should be satisfied with the results.

is 1500 too coarse?

I'd personally rather use a finer grit and work down from there. I wouldn't want to risk taking too much paint off at once and causing more damage to begin with. :)

actually if i were you, id start with a even finer grit than 2500. just my $0.02
