Mazdaspeedwest, help !!

Darryl,

I was going to PM but since it is a generic question it could help others in the future.

Do u remember I was going to install a Viper 300 with outiside perimeter and we even talked about the Multilevel Security Arming ?

Ok, the thing is:

* they called DEI and they said the Multilevel Security Arming would work just like you said. the only thing is that they would have to install the perimeter at zone 4. (don't ask me why).

* DEI came back asking the guy:"do the person has tinted windows? " they said the 508T sensor does not work with tinted windows. I do have tinted windows! Is that BS ???? what is going on ???

* Last question: my installer did not receive the Viper 300. He is trying to push me the Avital 2200. He said it is better and I dunno what else. What do you think ?? I told him I would ask my cousin in California... (you !) .

All I really want is the outside perimeter, so that they would know I have an alarm. I cannot believe they don't work with tinted windows.

I guess this is really getting complicated, I should go for plan "B"... when are u coming to visit ur uncle Joe here in CT ?? You could stop by and collect some $$$ installing my alarm.... easy work for you... :D :D

thanks again,

Nobody else knows anything about the Radar sensor related to tinted windows ??

well, it depends on the tint. If it's high performance film, chances are range and "possible" supratic" falses may happen, but it will work, just not at 100%.

Now if you have charcoal film (not metal at all) there shouldn't be any trouble.

I have installed the 508T on cars with tint and all it takes is some time to adjust and locate it properly.

Hard to beleive DEI said it would not work at all, i think the shop may have had some influence on that answer to you....

Even though Avital is sub of Clifford, i never liked their products, they may perform well, but thats just me....They are decent units tho. IMO, not better than a Viper.

By installing the 508T to zone 4, it does 2 things for the multi arming,
1) It allows the 508T to be bypassed separately from any other sensors, and
2) it allows the 508T to be bypassed with the 504T shock sensor. (zone 2)

Thanks again for the help.

Regarding my tint, I have the normal tint these guys install for about $140. I have the dark on the back and medium on door windows (required by CT law).

I'll call and tell them I am not interested in the Avital.

It does have a 3-button remote though.. he he he.
