Looking for In-dash CD changer

Hi brothers,

Can you suggest any in-dash changer for my existing CD player? Or should I buy a new player that can play MP3?

Thanks

Even better, get an old 8 track, or a built in record player:D

What year is the radio? If this is a the double din stock unit, then there is a 6 disk changer you can get. From the dealer it is outragious, but keep an eye on E-bay, Protege headunits come up on a regular basis.
The two best in dash sixes I know are the Premier PD-6, but it is out of production, or the Blaupunkt AO6 that our Island friend mentioned. :p Both would need a matching headunit to control them. Seperate box changers for under the seats etc. do come with some level of headunit nuterality so they can work in a lot of systems, but even then you might lose the use of some controls. There are no standards followed in the industry for the interfacing of controls between changers and headunits.
Let us all know a few more details, and what direction you decide to go!!

Thanks for the info Dave, my Protege is 2001 ES and the radio is a double bin unit. Do you think it can control the Blaupunkt CD changer?

Sorry but not that I know of. Fact is the Blaupunkt connector is one of the more unfriendly ones I know of. It does fit well with the Bluapunkt units though. You can generally get into a Blapunkt headunit and the in dash changer for the cost of a really nice headunit alone. I have had that very install in a Protege I owned before I got the mazdaspeed. It worked very well.
I would encourage you to look at the Mazda six disk changer though. It is a nice unit based on Nakamichi patents. The double din unit is a nice design that will make a good source unit for sound in a system, and would be pretty steath as far as the rip off threat goes...

If you want to keep the factory unit, you can get a CD changer with a remote and it will work just fine when tuned to a certain frequency. The little display can be unseen for the most part. and keep the remote in the center console or velcro it somewhere. From what I hear, Sir Nuke's system sounds really good with the factory unit and from looking at it, no one would know it has amps, subs, and etc.

I'll be getting rid of my stock 6-disc head unit in the near future (like the end of next week) if you're interested. Send me a PM or email me.

Same deal...
I have the factory 6-Disc sitting around...
Contact me if his offer doesn't work out.
So what's wrong with an automatic anyway?

meh, to me it's just not as much fun to drive...i would have bought a 5spd if i hadn't gotten such a hell of a deal on the car i bought.
