a little short circuit problem
 

alright a friend who installs stereo systems into cars was over and we were installing a deck i had laying around

he screwed up tho

he accidentally crossed the ground and the +12 volt battery wire, and he tried to connect them.... and all u hear was a little buzz

now basically from what i noticed, now the door open warning light doesn't come on no more, the dome light in the roof doesn't work no more, and the stock deck doesn't work no more.... i dunno what else doesn't work

but the check engine light is on

so what do you guys think it is, did he short out liek the electrical system or something, did he fry somethign really really important.... or maybe when you do that the fuse just blows, and thats why nothing works cuz theres no connection anymore through the fuse

so does anyone knwo what the problem is, the car still starts, it drives fine, the headlights work fine, just no door open warning light, no cd player/radio (deck not working) and the dome light is gone....and the check engine light is now on

Sounds like the fuses, some systems run off the same fuse. Or in some cases, they off a branch of the 12v power. Check all you fuses, they might look ok, but I bet you if you check the resistance through it, you'll get nothing, or maybe to high of a reading.

did i have "F***** up" in there... man i'm sorry, i was just too aggravated at the fact that this happened...

No problem, I know how it feels when a friend tries to help, and screws everything up. I'll warn you though, if the fuses check out, he fried the bulbs, and whatever equipment that doesn't work. Hopefully it's just he fuse. Goodluck!

okay well i checked the fuses under the dash (like right next to the clutch pedal) and the radio fuse (15A) was blown

so does blowing this fuse result in the problems that i got

well i don't have any interior lighting/ dash illumination or anything (but the warning lights int he dash, EXCEPT for the open door one, all work) .... cigarette lighter doesn't work, radio doesn't work.... dunno anymore extent of the problem

so does sound about right with that radio fuse going out.....

i haven't got an extra fuse to replace it with yet, but i was looking at it, and the fuse is liek so small, like my regular fuses are way bigger, the ones int he car are super small

but anyway so is the fuse the only problem...what do you guys think, i'll get a replacement as sson as possible

check the fuses that are in the engine compartment. Just about every car made has 2 or 3 fuse blocks. 1 in the inside, located on the driver's side, and the others under the hood. That's probably where your dash light fuses are located.
