I am going to disagree. The leather is not that great. Actually to put it bluntly, it sucks. The only portion of the OEM kit that is actually leather is the seating surfaces. The sides, back, and door patches are vinyl, and the leather is not that great of quality. I have seen the kit for the 2003.5 P5 and my wife had it in her Tribute. I would suggest that you get an aftermarket leather seat kit. They may be a pain in the butt to install, (I helped with my friends 2001 4Runner SR5), but you can be sure of two things, (1) the leather will be of the highest quality, and (2) the entire kit will be all leather, no vinyl. Plus if you like you can always have a logo or name embroidered in, put a two-tone accent, have it perforated (a necessity here in Phoenix), or a myriad of other options. The kits are not that expensive either.
Just a thought.... |
If you plan on getting the Side Air Bags, get the OEM leather, it's not all that bad, but it's not Lincoln quality. :)
If you don't plan on the Side Air Bags, just go for some aftermarket refits/ replacement. |
Classic Soft Trim actually makes 2 separate kits for the Protege, one for side airbags, and one without, so don't let that stop you.

The leather is nice. I applied a leather cleaning/protecting solutiuon to it and it feels a little softer now. I have seen cars with better and worse leather covering. For $490, I am not going to complain.
