kick pods - sweet!

Check these out! Sounds great...no...incredible! and there's the satisfaction that they were completely HOME-MADE!!
What a difference over just having speakers sitting in the doors...

Looks good, but does your foot get caught when you press down on the clutch?

onehawaiian July-24th-2002 02:05 AM

looks good dude! :)

Ummm, I don't mean to rain on your parade. And I'm not trying to be a dick. While I think its impressive you made those yourself, I don't think they are very "practical". Whatta goin do when your friend Tommy comes in your car with a big piece of dog shit hangin off his ruskin tuska cowboy boots and accidentally kicks the passenger pod, dents it in and gets shit all over it? Well, you're situation may not be quite be that extreme but I guarantee you if you have passengers ride in your car, those pods are gonna get trashed. Even yourself will not be immune to it. Think about when it rains, and you slid your foot by that pod everytime you press the clutch. You're gonna hit it everyonce in awhile.
So please don't get pissed, like I said I'm not talking shit, I'm just trying to help. So just as a suggestion perhaps you would like to retry them? You know, I see a little more room and I dunno if you know anything about fiberglass or not, but you could mold your current kick panles into something that would accomodate your components. Or if you had to compromise your sound imgae for the sake of your car being practical, then just install em in the door. Not a lot of people will ever even pay attention to the difference of the image of your components. Or if you have a real hard-on for the image, and chedda ain't a problem then I suggest these WHOOO CHEDDA

But anyway, bottom line. Good job for doing that on your own, but i would just suggest redoing it a little.

That's just the risk you'll have to take to achieve good sound. I've had kicks in my Civic before, but mine were made a little closer to the kick panel instead of protruding so far out. Either way, he did a decent job.

I made sure that I can operate the clutch easily...my feet are small :)

Sweedenhouse - thanks for the suggestions, but this is the most I can afford right now, and I very rarely have passengers in my car...it was a first try and I will probably redo them down the road when I have access to a router table or something...

whoa, that was your first shot? frick, i'm painting my box for the second time and i screwed up again...and i'm just painting! (actually, it's a lot harder than "just painting") still, your kicks look good. :)
