JL Audio VR525CS
 

I recently installed the JL Audio VR525CS speakers in the front doors of my Protege 5. They are a 5.25 Component set with 3/4 inch tweets. The tweets are installed in the triangle plate on the door by the mirror. I just got my digital camera back today so I should have a bunch of pics up of my car sometime tomorrow night.

i'm installing my jl's next week. we have different specs, are you from canada? 5x7 front, 6.5 back. might stay with my head unit from my previous ride, it's a blaupunkt munchen.

All 3rd gen Proteges have 5x7 speaker openings in the front doors. I installed 5.25" MB Quart component speakers in the front doors with an adapter.

Hey Jeff, how much that JL setup in the front cost you? :| I need some new door speakers, mine are blown, they pop everytime I turn up the music :[ And, do you like them?

I love them alot although they would sound alot better with a new Deck and amp for clearer power. The set of VR525CS if i remember were 250

speakers, etc.
 

I installed Polk speakers in the front and rear of my P5. 6x8's in the front and 6 1/2's in the rear. The 6 1/2's used an adaptor bracket that needed drilled to fit properly. The sound is noteably better quality but still lacks the bass and volume, afterall it is a 5watt system. I'm installing a 600watt Profile Audio 4 channel amp and Polk tweeters in a week (once they arrive). This will definately please the ears. I'll let you know how they go!

I put 2 JL Audio XR 5x7's in the front of my P5 and man do they rock. Coupled with a 300x4 JL Audio amp, and a single 10w6 I couldent be happier. My head unit is a Kenwood eXcelon Z828, I would highly recommend this to ANYONE. An eXcelon quality MP3 deck, w00ty! :D

What harness did you use to hook up your deck. I went to get one installed but there isnt a harness yet and I dont wanna splice all the wires

Mine came with the install job of my CD player.. I believe that it is the same connector as some of the newer Mazda's use.
