Interior Carbon Fiber Trim

Is anyone here interested in replacing the silver and carbon fiber trim in their MP3 or Protege 5 with real carbon fiber? We can have an overlay made that is installed over the current pieces and it will be paper thin almost or we could have new pieces manufactured. I will post a pic of a custom panel that was made for my friends car to hold switchs for fog lights, amps, etc..... we can have everything done including the interior door handles. Let me know what you think.

I've been wondering what a carbon fiber piece would look like on that middle piece that's champagne colored between the CF strips. Hurry up with the pic!

These pieces would be replacing or covering the silver (champagne) and carbon look pieces. These would be polished and buffed so they would look glossy like the carbon look pieces, however the carbon look will be covered. I don't have pictures of that yet. Will post them as soon as I can. We can probably get the whole car done for about $200 (adhesive pieces). To take molds of the pieces and have them done will be pretty expensive. At least a few hundred dollars (probably 300-500).

White colored trim

I was wondering if anyone would ever make colored trims. I havent seen any kits in colors other than aluminum, carbon fiber or wood. Since I have a white car, I think it would be pretty cool to have white accents inside the car too.

It is fairly easy to paint your interior trim, IslandP5. If you can get the pieces off, which might take some work, any body shop should paint them for you.

In fact, if you know anyone in the business, you could probably get it done for next to nothing - just have them paint them the next time they paint a car the color you like! They can do it for basically nothing, and the finish is usually really nice.

I'm considering doing this to the black gauge surround piece. I actually painted it already, but I'm not happy with the color. I was trying to match the champagne color, and didn't get it right. I'll probably do it again. This can be done with plain spray paint - the piece is under the plastic of the gauge cluster, and can't be touched or scratched.

I like the grey in the new Pro's... Anyone know if it would fit a '99??

I was thinking of going to a Scrap yard and picking one outa a car, if its there... know what the cost is, and/or how difficult it is to remove?

Don't know if they'll fit a 99. Some of the pices are a pain to remove, but they might be easier if you don't care about the parts connected to them.

Example: the door pices (the ones with the power window switches) pop out easily, but the switches have to be unscrewed from the bottom once they are out. The center one (radio and A/C control surround) is a real pain - I've never gotten it off. The A/C unit is screwed to the back of the panel - gettting to those screws should be kinda tough.

But since you won't be trying to save the switches or A/C unit, maybe you'll be able to just grip & rip.

Carbon fiber, brushed aluminum, and various wood trims are already available for the Protege. I have a carbon fiber kit installed in my '00 Protege that I got from this place. http://www.customautotrim.com/wood-d..._protege99.htm
I'm sure there are others also.
