Installation has begun (pics included)...

Well, I have begun the installation of my stereo system in my P5. Here are some pics of how to begin proper stereo installation (at least in my mind)

I had to move my interior fuse panel to make some room for the future custom kick panels. Here is a few pic of where it is moved to.

I welcome all comments and suggestions

very nice, what kind of pedals are those

NoahsMP5 November-3rd-2002 05:05 PM

do you really need to rip everything out like that. Or are you sound deadening?

mesoh November-3rd-2002 05:59 PM

sorry for being a little off topic, but is it possible to use that spray foam insulation in a can in the doors as opposed to using dynomat?

You obviously have the luxury of another car that allows you to do things like rip out the interior for a couple of weeks while you put in a stereo...right?

Wow you stripped it bare naked. Wish I could have done that on mine.

Must have taken forever to get all the carpet out and crap. Nice job cant wait for the after pic.

Well, when the wife is not working we do have the MPV, but other times, no. All I have to do is pop the drivers seat back in and I am ready to go, if need be.

How long did it take you to take it all apart? and what's that "black box" under where the rear seats should be? I noticed it in my car las week and I have no idea of what it is.

Please take progress pics.

Well, It took me about 3 hours to get it all apart adn everything torn out. I spent more time getting the fuse panel into its new location. I actaully got most of the car dampened except for the doors. I will do those as do each speaker install. I also got the RCA run down the passenger side tonight also. I will be taking pics as I move along this project. I also set up a website to keep all the pics up:

Cool, do you have experience in car audio or is this the first time you do this? and, how the heck do you know how to put it all back together???

NegatiZE November-4th-2002 10:54 AM

Looks like you're going to have a killer sound system when you're done.

Rider69 November-4th-2002 11:10 AM

It is not really going to be that elaborate of a system, I just felt it was easier to rip it out to run all the wires and dampening materials then put it back in. THis is only the second vehicle I will have put this type of system in. The first was a 1991 BMW 318is. This will be my first time and fiberglassing though. After we see how the kicks go, then I will possibly build fiberglass amp rack or door panels. we will see. I would also like to do something different with the Headunit mounting area, a little more custom.

Thanks for the comments and questions, keep them coming.
