How to remove door panels for speaker installation?

Hello,

New Protege owner here. (Just posted to the 2nd gen discussion group too with some generic car questions.)

I'm upgrading the audio on a 2nd gen '95 1.8 LX Protege I bought just recently. Came with an older Alpine deck, so I figured I'd replace the speakers and take advantage of that sucker. Picked up 6x9 JL Audios for the rear and 6.5 Rockford Fosgates for the front. (No sub or amp plans at the moment.) I also picked up a decent sized sheet of sound deadener.

Anyway, I'm very new to car modifications and I'm wondering if anyone can provide me with general instructions (or point me where to look) on how to remove the front door panels on the car to install the 6.5s and the sheet without totally mucking it up. I'm also wondering if it'd be worth putting some of the sound deadener anywhere in the back, or if it's only worth it for the front.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

Try searching about removing the door panels, I'm not sure if its been covered for 2nd gens specificaly yet, but you can get the idea. Also try crutchfield's installation page for more info bout taking off the doors, and sound deadening as well.

There was another good site i saw a while ago that had tons of stuff about car audio, but I cant remember where and it was on another computer sooo... maybe someone else can help. Could have been JBL's site, not sure tho

Anyways, Welcome to the world of the Proteges!
