How to remove center console on a 95 Protege?
 

This is my first post here, I just bought a 95 protege with 58k miles two weeks ago. After getting some new Michelins put on it I decided to replace the fugly mangled shift boot inside. Unfortunately its proving to be a royal pain to install. Does anyone know how to remove the center console around the shifter? I attempted to do so today, but the interior piece seemed to be stuck around the ash tray. Does anyone have any suggestions?
