how to install a car alarm??
Hi,
where shall I tap the lock, unlock and the driver's priority unlock wires? Where to connect them ? |
driver's door priority
See the following post where Darryl and I talk about the driver's door priority wiring: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...&threadid=9406
Here are details on the non-driver's door unlock/lock connections (Darryl double-checked these for me, and they worked, and the driver's door priority worked too): for the unlock relay -------------------- 1) 30 goes to single-wire door lock signal (which is normally at +5V). 2) 87a (Normally closed) floats w/ no connection 3) 87 (Normally opened) gets grounded 4) 86 gets +12V 5) 85 gets unlock negative output from alarm brain for lock relay --------------- 1) 30 goes 1.5Kohm resistor, which goes to single-wire door lock signal (which is normally at +5V). 2) 87a (Normally closed) floats w/ no connection 3) 87 (Normally opened) gets grounded 4) 86 gets +12V 5) 85 gets lock negative output from alarm brain Don Caballero |
uh, that link I suggested isn't quite complete
uh, that link I suggested isn't quite complete. Instead, search for posting w/ subject "wrecked door-lock relay module during alarm install" and look at the posts that follow it.

by the way, my car has an existing remote keyless entry which also has the driver's priority unlock feature. do I still need to add new set of wires or just look for the existing wires of the keyless entry?

Not sure what you're asking... For driver's door priority, you'll need to read the post I recommended. It describes how you:
1) find the wire that goes from the door-lock relay module (this is a different module than the OEM keyless module). 2) find the wire that shows +12 when you unlock the driver's door (this differs from a wire that shows +12 when you unlock the other doors, so don't confuse them). That is, use your OEM keyless transmitter to find the wire that sends +12V to the driver's door lock-motor only. There's another wire from that same door-lock module that sends +12V to the other doors' relay-module, which should never be cut. 3) Now that you've found the wire that sends +12V to the driver's door lock-motor only, you have to cut into that wire (between the door-lock module and the door-lock accuator/motor), and insert a relay. The relay's normally-close path will make the default connection between the door-lock relay module and the door-lock accuator/motor. The normally-opened path of the relay will allow you to break the default connection and send +12V to the doorlock-motor in the driver's door. Make sense? -Don Caballero |
Sorry, the wires mentioned in (2) and (3) above are found between the door-lock relay module and the driver's door-lock accuator/motor.
