HO Alternator...

Does anyone know where you can get a HO alternator for a 2000 protege 1.6L? I need it to be above 250 amps though. Im going to be running an audiobahn amp rated at 2000 watts RMS/4000 peak. This much wattage in the little pro might stop my heart but it will be the greatest sounding thing to die to other than a moaning Selma Hayek :inthebum:

Already checked HOalternators.com mralternator.com and a few others but all info would be appreciated.

I might plan on added a compressor to the mix so im shooting for a 300 amp alternator. :bt:

go to clubprotege.com ask around in there audio forum, there are a few guys there that can deinetly give you a good answer.

All I know is that the mazda electrical system is very complex, I dont think you can just change alternators. I do know however that you can have your stock one rewound to out put more.

250 amps????

Yeah thats a bit exesive. but when your trying to run 4000watts without a hitch you just wouldn't be able to do it.
Even with the 250 amp alternator it woudnt handel it very well. stock you can get 1080 watts out of the alternator, with a tremendous 250 amp you would only be able to run 3000 watts continusly..

Well its a 4000 watt peak meaning for a very short time. and under full volume. It would run at 2000 watts constant. well under the 3,000 watts it could handle with that many amps on the alternator but well over the stock amperage.

and yes the stock amperage is 70 amps i believe and i'll need upwards of 250 amps on my new one.

It's where I got the HO alternator for my Maxima. Very nice unit, and their customer service is nice. I ordered on a Tues. and got it by that Fri. These are the same guys that make the alternators for Stinger.

How much did it cost you? Im going to have a setup of more than 1,000 watts and need a higher alternator to handle the load.

For the Maxima, it was ~$400 for the 200amp model. A stock one was going to cost me ~$250 for 110 amps. I'm not sure what the cost for a Protege would be, but the Maxima was one of their more expensive applications, so the Protege should be cheaper.
