Help With My Wings West Kit

My WW kit came in today, and overall I have to say that I'm not completely impressed with the initial quality. The mouting holes need to be drilled still, the upper grill area needs to be re-shaped with a heat gun because of warpage during shipping, but my biggest peave is that the fog light holes have no backing on them!!! So, I ask all of you fellow WW owners, how did you mount your factory fogs without the backing? I'm glad I kept my old damaged stock bumper as I may have to cut the backings out of it and epoxy them on. I'll have it on on Sunday, and I'll be sure to post pics.

Has anyone got any suggestions about the fogs?

man it sucks dont it!
i dont know how stock vs piaa fogs differ but whew, it was a pain in the a$$ for me. the passengers side was gravy, but where i needed to drill on drivers side was sloped so bad i had to bend it. then i had to use longer bolts with a couple too many washer's to push the fogs out far enuff so i could adjust them.
but the rest of my kit fit perfect, the front bumper definitely wasnt designed good enuff.
good luck!

Hey Nick, you know that I don't have a WW kit but, what about putting in PIAA driving lights now? It would be a perfect time to try them out.

yeah so you can sell me one of your new stock ones :D

Which kit did you pick up Maxx??

MisterT August-30th-2003 06:52 PM

You try PMing foxy mazda? She has a wings west kit. It is different from yours as her car is a '99 sedan I think, but she knows a lot about kits.
Personally, I can't help you here. Sorry!:(

The MP3 3 piece kit.

MisterT, Foxy has the Onderground kit, not the WW one. Thanks anyway though!

I was hoping to get the "MPS" WW kit next spring, but this is really turning me off. I thought with WW's reputation and status, this kinda thing would be non-existant. This is bullshit indeed.

They didn't drill the mounting holes?? Left out the backing for the foglights? That's pure Bullshit. Does not selling a lot of these P5 kits somehow justify a lack of quality??

That is indeed pure BS...but maybe his was just botched. And I was thinking WW was the most reputable Protege kit maker...

It's in 2nd stage primer right now, but I've been really busy at work lately and haven't got to work on it much. I'm painting it on Saturday, so I should have it on this weekend. Then, I'll post pics. Will I ever!

Well, a step in the right direction. My CF hood arrived yesterday in mint condition, except for the fact that it was cracked about 2 inches long on the driver's side corner during shipping. No stuctural damage, just cosmetic and the surface isn't broken. So, I wait another 2 weeks for a new hood. In the meantime, since the shipping company's insurance is buying the new one, I'll probably keep the broken one, and I'll cover up the sides with paint like the WW hood and that way I'll have 2 hoods to choose from depending on what I'm wearing. :p

dood hook me up with the cracked one!
