Heated seats switch?
 

Planning on installing leather seats in my beloved Protege5 in the near future. My question is where do I place the switch for the heat modules? Up here in Alberta, heated leather seats are nearly a necessity!

Does anyone know where the factory location is for either the Protege5 or Protege sedan? I am trying really hard to maintain the factory cosmetics of this car.

Any thoughts? Or pictures?

There is a blank plug next to the fog light switch (I do not have a sun roof) that you might be able to use.

Chris (Skyhawk174) has heated seats and I think his switches are mounted on the center console near the e-brake.

I don't think that there is a factory location for the switch, since as far as I know heated seats aren't a factory option.

We have heated seats stock and the switches are located between the e-brake and the rear ash tray

I put an on/off switch for my sub amp in the center console, forward of the shifter - might work out good for heated seat switches also:

There is a small plastic cross-brace piece under the silver trim - I had to cut that out, but it's no big deal. It didn't loosen anything up or cause any problems whatsoever.

Wow, bougha - the interior of the 323 is quite different around the e-brake from the P5.

I appreciate all of the responses ... I wasn't even sure myself if heated seats were a factory option. I thought they were for the sedan, but I haven't even asked the dealership as of yet.

Bougha, thanks for the pic. The centre console is tempting, but I was looking for something else I think (even thought that IS a Mazda location)

Neuromancer, the switch blanks left of the steering column would be nice as well, but the passenger would not be able to reach his/her switch. Not the best situation.

I will continue giving this some thought. I am in no hurry as I di not anticipate having leather seats for a while yet ... $$$

The damn passenger should keep their grubby little finders off the controls anyway! :) You should control the comfort level....

Here is a picure I had of my new cupholders but it sorta shows the switch for my seats. That is the passenger side but my side looks the same. The installers put it there and I think it is a perfect place.

Chris, that is what I have been leaning to, but was looking for options. Nice picture though. Do your seats have different heat settings, or are they ON or OFF? Just wondering.

Ever wonder why we Alberta guys are always the helpful bunch? I post a query in a general forum and hear mostly from the frozen Canucks ... strange. I guess we all appreciate heated seats though! Especially this week!

Yeah the switch has 2 settings, high and low. There is also a safety setting where it cannot go over a certain temp so no worries about burning up the seats. Also, if the sun has been hitting it, it does not activate.

I was a bit hesitant about getting the leather option since it was not cheap but we figured it is probably going to be with us for a while so we should at least get some comfort. This will be the first winter so we will see how much I enjoy it. I can hardly wait :D.

Chris, that's more complex than I thought it would be. I am almost ready to order my seats. Just need to save a few more pennies. Would still like to hook up for coffee before I order them too. Just need to refresh my memory!
