h7 to 9006 HID retrofit -- Possible?
 

Hey guys, my first post here. Just to give a little background I used to be pretty heavy in the import scene when it was full on rice-a-roni a couple years back, so I know a little bit about lighting modifications and all that. I sold my Integra about 4 years ago and kept the hid retrofit kit I had on there - Phoenix Microlite Phillips German kit for 9006 bulb conversion -- high quality. My new girl has a mazda 3 2005 with the H7 halogen set up, and shes been commenting on the poor light output. I havent really looked too hard into it yet in terms of bulb size comparison and all that, but I would like to put this 9006 system in there if possible. . .what do you guys think? My gut says i can make it work but I havent analyzed the bulbs and housing and all that yet. . .thanks for any info/suggestions

Okay, so the bulb (glass part) looks to be the same size, the question is whether or not the base will A) fit in the housing, B) secure in the housing.

So assuming you can get the lamp into the housing then we have to worry about wiring. How does your 9006 harness draw power? Does it plug into the stock harness, or does it pull from the battery with a relay attached to the stock wiring? If it attaches to the stock wiring then you might have problems getting it to plug into the H7 wiring as I'm pretty sure the wiring is different.

Beyond that I have absolutely no idea.

My girl friend has a 2006 mazda 3 hatch, and I need some help.
first off I'm new and I do plan on contributing to the sight when ever i can. I drive a 2006 s2000.

But on to the important matter at hand, first off what is the bulb size for the 3??? I have looked every where and even researched the size of bulbs, but i can't seem to find the correct fit... The reason I ask is because i got her an HID kit with H7 bulbs. After i gave them to her she took it to the dealership for some reason and they told her that they don't fit...
