Grille Insert
Does anyone here have an extra grille insert that will
fit a 2nd gen pro? I have a 96 and I screwed it up by trying to install mesh into it. If anyone can get one for me either factory or with mesh installed I would be more than happy to buy it from you. :) |
Try hitting some junk yards. It will cost you less, and you can perhaps find a couple and do the mesh good this time. Good luck.
|
ok, thanks.
by the way, will the 97 pro grille work on the 96? |
na the 97 won't work less you get customy ...
what did you mess up ,, why not show pics of it -- before running and spending money to get a new one... you may be able to fix it |
i been trying to find one for a while. the rare pro i find has front end damage.
|
Ok, I finally got around to takin some pics.
Click on links. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/fbb4e37c.jpg I lost the mazda emblem so that makes it even more ugly.:( Here's the piece I can't get to stay on. I think it needs screws. I wish I could just find a whole new piece. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/fbb4e379.jpg |
yup, you need screws for that (red piece)..just buy some screws and youre all set..
heres a tip..cut the 3 lower horinzontal lines of the grille...put some putty in it to smoothen it out..then( while installed) put putty again on the top 2 lines...rub it with sand paper then paint it flat black..insert mesh grill(whatever your preference) then voila :) |
i need the old 2nd gen mazda emblem to
go on to the front piece. anyone got a spare? |

Look at that pic .. 1st of all . You can get away with using that grill that you have, but you need to get some screws that will hold the grill inbetween the headlight.. there are 4 screws , 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. find the screws that fit that and you are set ... 2nd , Don't worry about the mazda emplem blahh .. You can cut that black plasit peace out --the rows-- and then replace it with mesh .. But if you look at my gril on the sides you see the middle peace that's missing. that is cause I cut the grill to far in. So use a dremel and cut the mesh but not all the way close .. then putty everything get a sandstone bit for the dremel or sandpapper and sand everything down smooth.. Once you sand it down really smooth you can take it to a body shop or paint it yourself if you want ... If so desired you can add primer first . Most people usually do.. If you have any Q's just post them , one of us can answer it |
hey bruce, I think i got it!
Take a look at the pic and tell me if i did it right. All I did was shave the rows off. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/fbac3c5a.jpg Could you tell me the exact way to post the damn pic? sorry for language.:D |
now all i have to do is goto home depot and buy some mesh.:D
thanks for the help guys. |
hmmm... you know what bruce?
i didnt look at your front end pic until now. I should of looked at it before I shaved mine. I think yours is slick.:D Mine will be cool though. I hope. lol. You should see my dremel. It's covered with melted plastic.:D How do it get it off? |
yeah looks right , figure all you have to do know is go buy the mesh from HDepot and then fit it up in there .. make the left and right sides a little longer so you can fold the metal at the curves for that flush look -- then leave a bit more at the top and bottom so you can also flush them in .. take 2 screws .. -- predrill 2 holes on the top with a small bit and then put the mesh in to where you want it and screw in the screws so that they hold the mesh in place..
I hope I didn't miss anything .. Bruce |
hmm very odd... he Did his tonight and so did I and I didnt even look at this thread and hot damn I just kinda guessed and mine looks the same as his.. w00h00!
|
