Greetings Gentlemen, new member here

Hi guys/gals. I received a warm invitation to join the forum here from the head honcho, so I'd thought I'd accept!

I am by no means an expert, but I do have lots of experience in the field of car audio. Some of you may know my install progress (from other boards) on my Mazdaspeed3.

In the next coming days, I'll be compiling a photo gallery of the install that I've done, and writing articles that may help those who follow this path. In the end, we are all in this modification game together, so we might as well work as a team.

Feel free to PM me with any audio questions in the meantime, or MS3 questions. Again, I'm not an expert, but I am dedicated, and experienced. I'm a young pup (27), but I've been in the home theater/car audio field for 10 years at this time.

I also thought I'd add:
I am currently working with Zuki Audio as a Representative to provide sales and service assistance with their audio gear, www.zukiaudio.com (we're working on that website.) In addition, I am also clearing inventory on TONS of equipment ranging from mainstream to super-rare, from $5 parts to $1,500 amps. That link is HERE, so I can absolutely help if you need equipment to build a wonderful system. PM me if you would like to discuss any of that.
Until my next update, take care.

We're looking forward to reading your posts, and thanks for accepting my invitation!

Not a problem. The honor is mine.

My first suggestion for anybody seeking audio knowledge and understanding:

goto www.bcae1.com , and read the whole thing. It is like an illustrated, interactive Bible for car audio.

Dude .. where the hell were you like two months ago? I so could've used your help and probably saved myself a couple hundred bucks. Well it's good to have a pro around anyway. Welcome to the club!!

fourthmeal April-25th-2007 11:39 AM

LOL.. why, what happened 2 months ago?

And, thanks for the welcome.

welcome to the club!

hmm. fourthmeal - like Taco Bell?

fourthmeal April-25th-2007 12:23 PM

EXACTLY.

It happened this way:

I've been a trance/rave/techno head for quite some time, and I try to make my way around the clubs in Vegas that are into that. With friends, I'd always end up going to Taco Bell around 2-4am, "Fourthmeal" time for Taco Bell. Hence, the name is appropriate.

Of course, these days, since I work in a different industry at this time, I've been getting up at 4:00AM instead of going to sleep then, so my fouthmealing days are limited to the weekends now!

Plus, its not taken as a name. Ha.

Jackelope April-25th-2007 12:32 PM

^works for me - reason i picked Jackelope (way back in like '95).. no one was using it :)

Except that Full House comedian.

Hey, question for all...

What is it that you'd like specific info on? How to build systems for these cars? How to optimize? What NOT to do? What info is missing that I need to assist with?

I learn mostly by making mistakes, so I can surely help with what not to do.

But, what is everyone's agenda? Are you primarily after inexpensive setups, bang for the buck style? Upper end sound quality? Competition-style SPL? What drives you guys?

eggynatey April-25th-2007 01:38 PM

It's all about SQ in my P5. :)

I have a set of Focal Polykevs in the doors, powered by an Alpine CDA-7987 and an old Alpine V12 amp. I could use some bottom end since I got rid of my hatch-robbing sub box, so I'm thinking about getting another Basslink..I had one in my hatch back in the day and it sounded pretty damn good. heh, Lord knows there's enogh Dynamat back there. :laugh2:

Consider making your own sub setup, rather then basslink. The potential for output, sound quality, response, and overall blending is better when you "roll your own." Consider that you can make a nice, quality, small enclosure to avoid space robbage, quite easily. The spare tire well is my spot of choice, personally. I'm a big fan of false floors as well.

eggynatey April-27th-2007 11:10 AM

Roll my own, huh? I like the way you think...That's good advice, and if my RX-7 wasn't such a money pit, I'd probably seriously consider your false floor idea. I have a pretty nice sub just begging to bump my little wagon, too.

So many goodies to buy & so little dough.

Thats list of stuff I have for sale, if you want/need anything.

I'm starting my "101" classes, what do you guys think? Take a look at them.

Jackelope April-27th-2007 12:16 PM

read through them.. pretty good reads, would love to do nice audio setup in my car sometime in the future :) audio isnt @ the top of my list though haha
