got my amp over weekend
I already bridged my subs and attached them to the amp correctly
but, because i have no car to test how good they work im trying to connect my amp to my shelf sterio, an i would need a little help on doing so (information wise) i dont know where to ground the amp, and i dont know where on my shelf sterio i would connect the amp for its power supply, or even its input-ouput for the sub to even make iits bass i need some help information wise, thankyou |
It's an automotive amp? You'll need to buy a 12 volt power supply to run it. If your shelf stereo has line outputs, it's no problem to plug into the amp with RCA cables. If your stereo doesn't have and rca output, you'll need to use some kind of speaker level adapter, or maybe your amp will accept speaker level inputs.

ill check it out in a little bit thank you very much ill let you know how it turns out |
It's an automitive amp for a reason. Flat out, I've tried it, I wouldn't suggest it.

big news everybody
IT FKN WORKED!!!!!!!!!! :yelrotflm :yelrotflm without the amp though, i used the positive and negative wires from the subs and attached them to my shelf sterio system's (added on by a input output cable) sub woofer.. with determination i first disconnected the subwoofer from its internal amp, attached the positive and negative to the speaker wires, pluged everything in (on a surge protector) and turned the system on. put a cd in, and got to hear my isht BANG. sadly i didnt proporly wire one sub so it wast doin sh**. but the other one was shakin all kinds a stuff. but due to low ampage the entire system cut off. but at least i know its possible, and i got to hear one of my subs bump :bt: :bt: |
Hooking up car audio stuff to home systems is not usually a good idea, ESPECIALLY a shelf system. They are not made to handle any abuse.
|
well it wasnt being powered by the shelf sterio by its self... you know the subwoofers for computers or tv's, it was a tv subwoofer i used as a power source, an it got the signals from the shelf sterio
although your right, there's no way i can use the subs max potential off of a shelf sterio |
it's just the ohm load....that's the only REAL difference between home and car audio....wired correctly it will work just fine...

im planning on trien it again, i was just afraid i'd blow somethin, like all fuses in the house
