Is this a good deal?(before I install it)
 

My friend hooked me up at Best Buy and compared to Best Buy prices it was a steal, but I know BB is also expensive. I have a 97.

He got me Kenwood KFC-1337 5.25" for the doors Crutchfield said in the stats "PEI balanced dome tweeter

I really dont know what those stats means if its good or bad. Bestbuy doesn't carry too many brands and what was at the store is the only ones I've ever heard.

I payed $34 for 5.25's and $46 for the 6x9's. I also got four year warranties on em for $2.29 each. I know the warranties are good but are the prices good and is Kenwood an alright brand? The only online car audio site I really know of is Crutchfield, which my friends said was also expensive. My HU is an Aiwa CDC MP32.

I haven't installed the speaks yet until I see whether or not I should keep em or return em. Also I hate to be such a newb but if I don't buy subs any time soon would buying an amp make a difference in addition to the four new speaks and HU. Would it be worth the extra money? Thanks.

are you going to be installing the speakers yourself?

if you are, i think you're gonna need to get adapter brackets for the front and the rears.....

i'm running the same setup almost, 5.25 and 6x8, except i put the 6x8's in the front cuz they fit perfect, and i just bought the adapter kit for the back.....

sorry i know i didn't answer any of your questions, but just thought you might like to know if you want to avoid any of the troubles i went through! :)

Kenwood makes decent speakers - I've always liked them.

Plus, you got a really good deal!

Those speakers are a decent choice for low-power applications, like running off deck power.

Buying an amp is a HUGE improvement. HUGE HUGE HUGE. I'm not 100% sure how the Kenwoods will hold up under higher power, but if you got an amp that puts out 120 watts or so (like, 30 watts per speaker) you will notice a MAJOR difference, and should not have to worry about blowing those speakers.

Separate amps are almost ALWAYS better than deck power, and if you can afford a modest amp for your setup I'd say go for it. You'll get a lot more volume and a cleaner sound - it's almost guaranteed.

Thanks for the help! I'm gonna get them installed tomorrow I hope(I'm in NJ and the snow ain't stopping anytime soon) I'll also check out the amps that BB carries and what kinda deals I can get. Off the Website I see they carry brands such as Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, Jensen and Lightning Audio. I already heard bad things apparently about Sony and LA. I'm not sure about the other brands, any suggestsions?

From that list, I'd go with the Fosgate.

But - the Kenwood amps are reasonably solid, and Pioneer is about the same. Stay away from Jensen - flea market crapola.

You can get much better deals buying online rather than in a store, also. Try www.bsless.com, www.ikesound.com, and eBay.

When it comes time to install or buy a wiring kit, it's never a bad idea to go thicker than you really need. If you ever add a more powerful amp, or a sub amp (or both!) you won't have to re-do the power/ground wiring. www.kukonceptz.com has great wire at great prices - use 4 gauge if you think there is even a slight chance you'll upgrade in the future - you'll be all set.
