First time poster, head unit install question

Hey guys, first time poster here. Love the site, lots of good info here.

I've got a question about the head unit installation on an '02 protege sedan. I've pulled the stock double-din unit out, and I've got my aftermarket deck installed in the bottom half of the stock location for now.

I need a pocket to fill in the other half of the dash opening, and I'd like to put the unit on top, and the pocket underneath, but the little E-DIN sleeve that holds my head unit in place doesn't seem to offer enough support to hold the unit in place in the upper install location.

My question is, will a plastic pocket offer enough support underneath my head unit to hold it firmly in place in the upper dash location? It seems to me that just a plastic pocket isn't going to be adequate, and that I might need something more solid underneath the unit. Or I might just have to leave the head unit on the bottom, and the pocket on top. It seems pretty well supported in the bottom location, at least so far.

I'm planning to order something like the Metra 88-00-9000 pocket. Anyone else used this kit that can offer any advice? Is there a better kit out there?

Also, is the 88-00-9000 pocket all I need? Or do I need to also order the other Metra kit to go along with the pocket? I don't need any trim around my unit.

Thanks.
