Finished my install

I actually finished it weeks ago but have been too lazy to upload my pics. I didn't take any during the install. At first I was going to take a lot of pics of the rear install and write a how to on getting the rear dash panel off. But after looking at it, decided that you would have to be pretty dumb to not be able to figure it out.

I kept the stock HU and installed an Alpine MRP-F200 amp under the passenger seat. This amp puts out 40x4 which isn't a lot to most people but it plenty for me.

For speakers I went with blaupunkt. I went with their PCci650 6.5" components for the front and BlueLEDz sold me his PCxi693 6x9s. Here is a pic of the tweeter installed in the door panel and then a pic of the 6x9s taken from the trunk.

Nice work, clean and simple.
Hows it sound?

Hmmm... that tweeter location looks AWFULLY familiar ;).

Enjoy!

Looks good!

I meant to write more last night but my internet kept disconnecting. The sound is just what I was looking for. It is a lot clearer at louder volumes and has more bass than the stock. I thought the stock was kinda harsh unless I turned the mid down a bit and now its perfect. When listening to it at levels that I think are similar to my regular listening level when it was stock, I notice that it is actually a lot louder because I can't hear the engine rev as much as before. But it doesn't actually seem louder. I can also hear a lot of things in my music that I didn't hear when it was stock.

Overall I am very pleased with it.

:D Thanks for the idea Hioslva, I went through all the threads on tweeter location and most people agreed that it was the ideal place.

EDIT:
Mounting that tweeter was a pain. I thought I had every hole saw imaginable but I was wrong. I had every size except the one I needed, 1-3/4". So I ended up having to use a smaller one and file around the hole to make it the right size. It was about midnight when I started the tweeter install and no hardware stores were open, otherwise I would have barrows my parents car and bought one.

Ahhh... the benefits of living in a major metropolitan area. Some Home Depots are open until 11, and I know of one I can go to in a pinch that os open 24 hours a day (it's a hike to Brooklyn, but it IS there if I need it).

Plus, I think the local Target is open 24/7 also.

Guess that's not that common in Alaska....;)

Glad you're enjoying your system - the stock one is definitely sukky. I remember when I first bought the car, I couldn't even hear the radio with the windows and sunroof open. I don't have that problem anymore, that's for sure..;)
