Factory Radio.....

Can I hook up my amp and subs to the factory radio or do I need an aftermarket stereo?
Thanks.

LOL boy that was helpful!! :{D

JAL, as 1st stated...yes you can. What you need to do is one of two things....either you need an amp that accepts speaker level inputs....OR if you already have an amp and want to stay with it...you will need to get and install LOC....Line Out Converters which convert the speaker outputs to low level outputs that use RCA's just like many aftermarket head units.

I personally, with the help and recomendations of 1st....amped my stock head unit and did a complete speaker upgrade and added a sub...the system really rocks.

I hoped you'd be along to explain it. :D

I will also need a crossover to knock out the mids and highs correct, or my amp might have it, correct?

Also, how hard is it to get to the back of the stereo?
Thanks.

With the right tools, 2 sets of ford radio keys, the radio is not hard to get out.

The amp if of any quality will have a built in crossover. Its best to buy an amp with an adjustable crossover.

It's not impossible....

I just had an amp and subs installed to my stock deck this past weekend. I don't want to lose my six-disc changer....just yet. I had some audio experts install it. You just need a converter to hook up your amp to your stock deck. It's not impossible. But I guess from what people are saying, that you'll be able to get better sound from an aftermarket deck. I'll switch to aftermarket decks after I get tired of the stock unit.
