I want a Dynamax trunk kit but i'm wondering if there are any other similar products that drown out noise, but cheaper; or is Dynamax the way to go?:doh:

Also what do I do about the vibrations of the trunk lid itself?:dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

unless you insist on the best or will be competing in sound offs, the less expensive stuff will do fine. I got a few sheets of 36x54 for $12 each....

and BTW, its dynaMAT not dynaMAX...:bt:

The trunk lid itself is a tough one, to help, you can adjust the latch so the lid closes tighter and add the dynamat material to the underside of the trunk lid. Use some behind your lisence plate too.

what is the 36x54 sheet that you used?? $12 sounds more like it.... I'm looking to spend around $60-70 on this....:rolleyes:

McMaster-Carr and MSC Industrial Supply sell a product that is exactly the same thing as dynamat but WAYYYYYY cheaper. Its texture is slightly different and it doesn't say dynamat on it, but it is the same stuff.

The part number on MSC is: 01925437

Just type "sound control" Sound Damping" or try both in the search field on either site. Theres lots of good of information/products related to sound absorbing, blocking and damping products. You can make you car into a lexus if you wish.

1 $12 roll did both of my front doors. Thats almost full coverage in each door. Just to give you an idea.

I've never used any of these sound dampeners before, so could anyone tell me where should I stick these sheets? Take a door for example. Thanks

You can also use carpet padding material as sound-deadener for ultra-cheap. You can get remnants at carpet places for next to nothing. It just doesn't look so great in exposed places.

I'm also interested in some installation instruction for the P5. Anyone who has done the doors, give us some tips, please!

It may seem strange, but in some cases with sound deadening, less is more. Meaning a small peice centralized may work better than the entire area covered. Experiment as you go. Knock on the panel with your knuckle or use the SAME object every time. Listen for a dead thud, not a ringing ping.

For me personally, i covered each door complete, and placed round circles of it (8" diameter for a 6" speaker) behind each speaker on the inside of the door (which happens to be the outside panel) i also put some sofa cushion foam in the bottom of the doors. For my dash speakers, i put a peice on the face and added carpet matting behind the speaker. I may try to make mini baffles or boxes for em, as they sound a bit transperant...but anyway

I put medium to large peices on the floor boards and along the lower firewall area and under the rear seats. I filled the structure areas under the trunk lid, put peices all over the trunk area and inside the spare tire tub. I now just need to put strips on both top and bottom of the rear deck.

You can also go as far as to remove the headliner and rear side panels and do the roof and rear pillars. Also the pillar between the doors.

You can also add the deadening inside your subwoofer box. By simply lining the rear wall (the wall that is opposite the woofers) or line the entire inside of the box, OR go all out when building a new box and sandwich it between to 1/2" sheets of MDF. So, it turns into a 1 and 1/8th thick, dead as a doornail box. :bt:

If you plan on putting any under the hood, spend the extra for the good stuff. As the heatsheilding properties and adhesive will be superior. It needs a foil type layer to reject the heat, a regular peice will burn up or melt in no time.

HMM, i know of a dynomatt system, to lower noise in trunk (vibrations) from your sub(s) and stuff. Its not that expensive. Goto a professional audio installer, they can get u hooked up.
