Sound dampening
 

I'm about to put a 2 sub, 600 watt system in the trunk of my '99, and i need to know if it would be good to get some of this dynamat/brownbread type sound dampening stuff. I figure i could buy some and cover my trunk with it to make sure nothing rattles (i hate rattly car systems).

I am most concerned about rattle in the trunk once i have the subs installed, but i wouldn't mind reducing the road noise from the rest of the car as well. For any noticeable difference in road noise would i have to cover trunk, doors, floor, ceiling, and firewall? or could i get by with just the trunk, or with the trunk+ rear deck and doors? I'm on a tight budget, so the least i can do with the most improvement is what i'm looking for.

The way i'm looking at it right now, these are my options for areas to cover with deadener:

1.Trunk
2.Trunk+rear deck
3.Trunk+rear deck+doors(all 4)
4.Trunk+rear deck+doors(all 4)+floor+firewall

Lemme know what you think about cost, difficulty, and benefit for all of these options.

dynamat aint cheap. i did just my trunk lid and rear deck and that came out to 100$. rear deck is VERY important. it rattles like a babytoy. trunks a nice touch for outside.

I had heard that dynamat was an overpriced brand of sound dampening, i'll probably be using brown bread or another brand of comparable price.

The trunk and rear deck were my highest priorities, but for a difference in road noise i wondered if i would have to go all out and do floor and doors and the firewall. I could handle doing the doors, but i'd really rather not take all the seats out and tear up the carpetting and all that, but if i can't make a significant improvement without doing all that, then i guess i'll have to do it.

So far my only effort at sound dampening was when my front passenger door started rattling, i took my fuzzy dice down and stuffed them into the door pocket so the plastic doesn't rattle any more :D.

BTW, should i sound dampen everything before or after i get my subs installed? It would probably be easier to put the stuff down when i don't have any wiring or anything back there, but maybe not, and also it might be better to hear the car with the subs in it first to tell where and how bad the rattling is(though i'm sure it will rattle because it already does a little from the stock 6x9's)
