double din install?

Sorry if this has been explained but I used the search and have not found information. I bought my wife a Pyle double din radion. I also purchased a skoche install adapter. I am going to attempt to install today but is there any cutting or modification needed? Its an 07 Mazda 3 so the LCD that shows the temperature etc is seperate. I am just looking for a quick heads up on what issues I might run into after I remove the factory CD radio? Thanks in advanced...

You should be able to get a radio install harness. Wire that up to the harness that comes with the new stereo and then you can plug directly into the factory wiring harness without cutting anything.

As far as the LCD goes, as you said it's separate. If you unplug the HU while the car is on you'll be able to retain one of the functions on the left side of the screen (clock, avg mileage, miles to empty, etc.), and the ambient temp. display will remain on the right side (as well as ACC indicators if it's a GT).

For the mounting kit a lot of those come with a slight texture to them, so if you want it to match the existing plastic pieces you may want to consider sanding and painting it before you install everything.

Thank you for the reseponce.. I attempted this today.. BUT the double din Radio is just a tick wider then the opening for the mounting kit, My assumption is to get a dremel and try to take off some of the plastic enought to make it slide in but still be tight?? Also the LCD screen since being seperate, I have to figure out how to mount it back in place since it was screwed to the top of the stock radio??? I was hoping someone on here has a double din that was not the factory one for assistance :(
