Door panel fading...
 

Hmm...I took apart my passenger side door panel yesterday to get rid of a really annoying creak. I fixed it sucessfully, but I got some of that black crap they use to seal the plastic rain guard to the door innars all over my door panel. I used Goo Gone to remove the crap, but I realized that after it had dried and everything it made some white fading in the area I had applied it to. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Wiping the area w/ a wet rag will temporarily make the fading disappear until it dries again. Bah...

One thing I've learned about goo-gone is DO NOT use it on something in your ride that people can see. I got some plastic in my old truck with this and I never got the color back. It works on most things but sometimes you get unlucky. I think it even has a warning on the bottle not to use it on something without testing in a non-visible area first.

Great, I guess I'll just have to live with it. It's not very noticeable, but it just annoys me because I know I did it. I wonder how much a new door panel would cost...

If your local auto parts store carries Stoner Solution's products (they're the ones that have that huge $50 detail everything kit thats advertised everywhere like Car + Driver), if you can find their "interior trim cleaner", it is impressive.. for plastic and such.. it removes dirt while not making the plastic any shinyer (at least with my beige interior)

Then again, I'm not familiar with what Goo Gone does residue wise so not sure if that would undo it or not.

Simoniz protectant is very good and is almost water proof. It removes wax residue too, can be used on tires as weel. Little bit on slippery side
